My Cancer Journey

-Humor me-

You might notice that I am adding new things to the blog as I learn how to fiddle with it. There is a section called humor me, it’s for links and that kind of stuff.I hope that you aren’t offended by some of the things I post. If you are, honestly, there isn’t much I can do anyways.

The point is that I found something and thought it worth sharing. I’m a bit odd to begin with. You add something like cancer to mix, watch out. What little filter I had is gone. Life is far too short and many serious things come up. If I think something is funny, I’m going to share it. Happy Saturday, make it count.

Much love,

Jody

  1. I think as a person moves beyond the immortality way of thinking, we start sorting through all the trivial stuff we thought important. The older I get, the more I see how we spend way too much time obsessing over things that probably aren’t that important to our lives. Currently we have “March Madness”and for some, I see where the “madness” comes from. I get rooting for a favorite team, but for some this is an obsession. If you clear away the hype, you are left with 18 – 22 year olds trying their best to play well and win for their school. It becomes both thrilling for the victors and heartbreaking for the losers. What I begin to wonder is how many of these athletes become successful citizens off the court? How many are recruited for what they do on the court rather what they can do academically? I think trivial things can be fun and enjoyable and should be appreciated for what they are, they should not be what drives one life and obsessive behavior.

    1. Linda,
I always love getting your viewpoint on things. They are thoughtful, always challenging, and they have changed my perspective on more than one occasion. You have a way of looking at things without the filtered lens. I might disagree sometimes. The challenge you throw down about researching your topic of choice is always duly noted. I always enjoy your observations, no matter which side I may fall on.

  2. One thing I know about you Jody is you love laughter. I remember us staying up late watching Saturday Night Live and giggling and laughing. I know at times you may not feel like laughing but try to think about a fun time with your girls or just something funny. When I have to have my pain injections in my neck or dry needles put in my shoulder I try to distract my mind and think of humor or just try to go to a happy place. I have to have injections in my neck for the rest of my life and that really sucks but I think of what you’re going through and what I’m going through is nothing in comparison. I’m not sure how much longer I’ll be able to keep doing the craft that I love. I was born to do hair!! I’m going to keep fighting for what I love! You keep fighting too my friend!! You’re one tough chick!! 💕

    1. Thanks Gaylee! Keep fighting! I will, quitting is not in my vocabulary. Hardships come our way, that is part of life. We fight through and move on. If we can’t we can’t, we do the best we can. I do remember all those good times, SO MUCH LAUGHTER! I try to laugh as much as I can, as often as I can. That has not changed. If anything, I try even more now. Love ya tough mama!
